Year 7

Creative Media

  • Big Band – Regular concert performances at venues outside of the College.
  • MADE project – Working with local business partner to design and produce a product to a brief. Final product presented to a panel of judges.
  • Torre Abbey Exhibition of student artwork exhibited at professional venue.
  • Visit by professional artists as part of the Geopark conference.
  • Devon County Show – engagement with local producers and employers.

 

Year 8

  • London careers trip to Kidzania – exploring career options.

 

Global Studies

  • Open Hearts, Open Borders Charity work.
  • Eden Project – Exploring sustainability, possible career choices and options.

  • TechBay (Science & Technology event, Riviera Centre) – STEM Careers event exploring career options.

  • Torre Abbey Exhibition of student artwork exhibited at professional venue.
  • Alpaca project – forthcoming regional project/event.

Year 10

Careers

  • World Skills Show Trip – NEC Birmingham
  • Work Experience week.
  • Additional work experience opportunities including Army, & NHS.
  • Careers & Post 16/18 Fair – event hosting external educational providers and local & national employers.
  • Flexible Learning Day (FLD) – Employability Skills, job applications, self-promotion, CV & cover letter writing and practice interviews.
  • Flexible Learning Day (FLD) – Martin Cavanna Challenge Day – house building, planning and design competition- with follow-up planned visit to housing development site.

 

Global Studies / MFL

  • Education and the world of work – Covers jobs and professions, places of work, advantages and disadvantages of jobs and future aspirations.
  • Erasmus Project – multiple visits to Spain, Italy and Austria – meeting Teachers and students and experiencing cultural differences.
  • Geography Field Trip.

  • FLD talks and sessions on possible career choices.
  • UCAS convention at Westpoint, Exeter.
  • FLD Exeter University Visit – Talks on University life, tour of campus – provides knowledge of University and inspire students into possible future Post 18 Education.
  • Gap Year talk – explaining Gap Year, what it is, when it’s possible to take one, and whether it is right for individuals.
  • Personal Statement writing sessions, and UCAS applications.
