Learning is very much at the heart of what we do at Brixham College, we want students to learn well and make outstanding progress. We have the highest expectations of our students, encouraging students to be active , responsible and fully engaged in their learning.

We have a caring, dedicated and inspirational staff who go above and beyond to ensure students fulfil their potential, and in many cases much more. We believe that all young people have the potential to achieve great things and focus on providing learning experiences which will enable them to leave us happy, confident, independent, having ambition and aspirations beyond Brixham College and enthusiasm for lifelong learning.

'Students achieve well as a result of good teaching.' Ofsted 2011
The young people access a creative and diverse curriculum, personalised to meet the needs of all of our students. All students are individuals and our staff are committed to tailoring teaching and learning which develops all learners ensuring students make good progress and beyond. We encourage our learners to become involved in a range of enriching and exciting experiences which support what they do in the classroom.

'Activities that stretch and challenge all learners regardless of their starting
point so that their progress is consistently good or better.' Ofsted 2011

We are using ‘Building Learning Power’ (BLP) approaches to teaching and learning which focus on developing independent, inquisitive learners who build confidence in learning ‘how to learn’ and skills which help them become lifelong learners. Through BLP we are developing a language for learning with our young people, where they are able to make connections across a range of learning experiences.

'There is some oustanding teaching, which engages
students through high quality dialogue.' Ofsted 2011
