October 24, 2023 10:51am

Students from Brixham College are calling on their community for support to design and build an electric car for a competition.

The colleges new Science Technology Economics and Maths (STEM) Club comprises of enthusiastic and dedicated pupils aged 12-15 who are driven to participate in this year’s Greenpower Challenge.

Greenpower Education Trust, who oversee and deliver the nationwide challenge, are a UK-based charity which gets young people enthusiastic about science and engineering by challenging them to design, build and race an electric car.

For the Brixham College pupils to make their participation in the Greenpower Challenge a reality, they need some financial support, which is where the community support can make a significant difference.

They are raising money to support the costs associated with building the car, safety equipment and other related expenses. If you feel you could help, or know of somebody who is able to support the team on their mission, however big or small, please visit their Crowdfunding page here:

Across the UK, over 700 teams across more than 35 regional events will participate in the Greenpower Challenge.

There will be more than 10,000 students taking part, from primary school age through to university, so it would be a joy to have Brixham College’s name on the track.
