Brixham College, an ambitious academy with high expectations of all, is celebrating another year of excellent A Level results, maintaining an enviable pass rate of 97% and increasing the number of students achieving the highest grades.

There was a great buzz of excitement in the school hall as students received their positive results with confirmation that they’ve secured their first choice University place.

Ever since its inaugural cohort of students celebrated a robust set of A Level results in 2015, Brixham College has demonstrated a consistently strong performance record. Sixth Formers continue to achieve at the highest level, the close-knit learning community is supported by a team who really care and every subject is as strong as the next with the Humanities and English Literature faring exceptionally well this year.

“I’d like to thank the teachers and support staff, especially Mr Haines and Mr Tailford. I’ve had an amazing experience with wonderful results!” said Amy Bennett on receiving her A Level grades. Having achieved an A in English Literature, B in Photography and B in History she is now looking forward to reading History at Plymouth University.

“It’s a magical end to an unforgettable experience with incredible results to show for it. I wouldn’t have chosen anywhere else to study!” added Ben Williams who celebrates his A in Sociology, B in Graphic Design, and C in Biology and will be studying Primary Education at the University of Gloucestershire.

“I’m delighted with the strength of this year’s results and am really pleased for our staff, the students and their families who have worked together so hard over the past two years to secure them,” says Principal Mark Eager. “Our Sixth Formers are a real credit to us and have become an integral part of our learning community. Full of perseverance and a determination to succeed, they continue to raise aspirations and provide positive role models across the whole of the College,” he adds.

“We’re really pleased for our students who all have exciting futures ahead of them. What they’ve achieved academically sits alongside the rich friendships they’ve made here and the full spectrum of personal goals accomplished,” says Chair of Governors, Anthony Prowse.

“It’s been wonderful to see our Sixth Formers grow in ability and confidence over the course of their studies. They really deserve the success they’ve achieved,” says Head of Sixth Form Jason Haines whose team has successfully secured a consistent pass rate at the College, increasing the number of students achieving the highest grades.
